Covid19 New travel restrictions imposed in Beijing to control the spread of Covid19
The city of Beijing has rolled out a range of measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic by imposing restrictions on travellers from regions with relatively high virus transmission rates.
According to Chinese state media Global Times, people from medium or high-risk regions who are planning to return to Beijing will be prevented from buying tickets for air and railway services.
The Beijing authorities said that health codes for people who are still in medium- and high-risk regions will be adjusted to the yellow colour, and anyone with a health code that is not green will not be allowed to board planes or trains bound for Beijing.
Beijing Daxing International Airport has announced the suspension of flight routes from 15 cities including hotspots of outbreaks such as Nanjing, Yangzhou and Zhangjiajie.
Wen Wu, the airportâs deputy general manager said: âBeijing Daxing International Airport has suspended flight routes from 15 cities such as Nanjing, Yangzhou and Zhangjiajie, said Wen Wu, the airportâs deputy GM, as part of measures to curb the epidemic flare-up.â as per Global Times.
Those returning to Beijing would also have to undergo a further 14 days of quarantine and a series of coronavirus tests, reporting the health condition to their employer or district neighbourhood each day.
Last week, the Beijing municipal committee of the Communist Party said anyone from Beijing who was in a high-risk province would not be able to return until they had completed 14 days of health monitoring and a negative coronavirus test 48 hours before boarding a flight or train.
Meanwhile, The Beijing International Film Festival has been postponed due to new COVID-19 outbreaks in the country, Sputnik reported citing the eventâs official statement on Thursday.
