AFL 2021 LIVE updates Dockers on top of Tigers Papley kicks four as Swans beat Bombers

In a game where goals are as rare as henâs teeth, Tigers skipper Trent Cotchin has been given a 50-m penalty after he appeared to jab a Dockers player in the stomach with his fist.
The Dockers player lurched forward in dramatic pain, the umpire called 50m and Ryan Schultz kicked a goal from the goal-square.
it was a costly moment.
Dockers lead 34-16 with 13 mins until 3QT.
Matt Taberner has kicked plenty of goals for the Fremantle Dockers but he has just kicked a stunner from deep in the left forward pocket following a goal-less second term.
Taberner also kicked the first goal of the game so he has kicked two of the four total goals in this game.

Chaos, confusion, finger pointing, acrimony and allegations of leaks and bad blood have characterised a cataclysmic week for Hawthorn, and it almost ended in nightmare fashion after a stirring Brisbane charge saw the Lions stage a dramatic comeback in Launceston.
The Hawks, who had been 53 points up at one point, clung on to deny a late Brisbane fightback to win by a 12-point margin, 14.8 (92) to 12.8 (80).

For much of this game it seemed the off-field shenanigans had inspired the struggling Hawks.
Maybe they just want to send Alastair Clarkson off on a high note. Maybe the shock of such a big change has made the players take a look at themselves.

The Dockers lost second-year forward Bailey Banfield to a serious-looking concussion in the second term which saw him carried off the field on a stretcher.
Bayley attempted to tackle a Richmond player and had the player land on him as they went down hitting his head hard on the ground.

Dockers coach Justin Longmuir told Fox Footy at half-time that he understood the main issue for Banfield was a concussion but no more detailed update has been offered yet from the team.
âItâs a concussion. Heâll be feeling a bit sore and sorry for himself,â Longmuir told Fox Footy.
Richmond has yet to use its medical sub Josh Caddy.
Footy fans have arguably just watched the most painful quarter of footy this season, with both Fremantle and Richmond combining for 0.11 after quarter-time.
Fremantle owned the possession battle in the first half, but have scored just 2.10 to Richmondâs 1.8 from a combined 43 inside-50s.

Andy Brayshaw has been outstanding with 20 disposals and seven tackles.
The Dockers have already activated their sub with Connor Blakely coming on after Bailey Banfield was knocked out early in the second term.
This game is up for grabs for whoever wants it. Or whoever can kick a goal.
The Dockers have had plenty of footy against this young Tigers side but they havenât been able to turn their dominance into goals.
Whether this will come back to hurt them remains to be seen but I wouldnât want to be giving any Richmond side a hint of a chance to cause the upset.

Fremantle currently has 10 behinds and just two goals. They must be better from here on.
âThere is a lot going on in this match, we just need some goals,â Fox Footyâs Gerard Healy said during the commetnary.
On the plus side, they are wearing their Retro Round jumper from their first-ever match which was their green and purple âawayâ jumper from 1995.
At the time very few AFL sides had a home and away strip.

Note from Roy: Apologies to reader Hookey13 and other Demons supporters. I planned to put up the story on Melbourneâs win earlier this afternoon but was distracted by the goal-fest at the MCG. Cracking win from the Demons.
Melbourne will not experience many easier days at the office than Sundayâs stroll in the park against an inept Gold Coast at Marvel Stadium, with the only real concern a back injury to forward Tom McDonald.
McDonald was subbed out at three-quarter-time against the Suns but will have to fly with his teammates to Perth this week for the clash with the Eagles due to the WA governmentâs strict quarantine rules.

The Demonsâ round-21 match against West Coast is expected to be put off until Monday week to allow Melbourneâs players to complete seven days of quarantine under government rules.
McDonald has no option but to risk his sore back on the plane.âTommy got a pretty strong hit in his lower back and it seized up,â Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin said after the match.
âWith the quarantine regulations over there, we have to take the players we think [might play]. Tom will be part of that and weâll obviously assess him day-by-day.â

We will now turn our attention to Richmond versus Fremantle where the Dockers are up by 12 points in a more contested game than the goal-fest that has just ended at the MCG.
There are about 15 minutes to go in the second term and the Dockers appear to be winning the better of the field position without much return on the scoreboard.

The goals flew in and the fake crowd noise roared as Tom Papley led his Sydney Swans to a seven-point win over Essendon at the MCG.
Papley kicked four goals and gave off a few others as the Swans rose from a small deficit at half-time to win the match in a goal-fest of a second half.

There were 21 goal-scorers in all and 23 goals kicked after half-time with Sydney kicking 13 of them.
Callum Mills had 33 touches in his return to the Swans side while Zach Merrett had 35 touches for the Bombers.
That was some match.
